ASP 91 Four stroke is now on its way from China for this model.

Hopefully this should provide the necessary power.

As Kuldiga guys know - the ASP 91 actually broke internally and was reported to Hobby King. They accepted claim and replacement engine is on its way to me.

I can say that even with engine being run rich and carefully for Running-in, then engine showed great promise and was much better than the 70 previously fitted.

If I have trouble with the replacement engine - I also have a spare ASP 61 2 stroke motor I can use.

Sadly HK are keeping old engine.

What broke ? I do not know, but I think it was piston connecting rod to crankshaft.

I now have choice : I have new 61 2 stroke and the replacement 91 4 stroke - cannot decide which to fit to the Extra.

Made big mistake Saturday 28 March ... swapped Rx battery from working 4.8V NiMH to new 6V NiMH pack. Aileron servos did not like this and I had to remove this new pack.

This is all servos in this model now that I have had to replace. The first to go were the Rudder and Elevator Digitals - they were unuseable. Now I wait for another two replacement servos to replace the aileron servos. Then I can upgrade to the 5 cell NiMH Rx pack.

Decision made because of long wait for new 91 FS. I fitted the 61 2stroke engine with Pitts muffler. Fitted 14x4 propeller ...

The thrust on this is very good and I think she will now perform well.

The 91 FS when it arrives - I will then decide whether to stay with 61 or fit the 91.

Now I have interesting decision to make.

ASP 61 2 stroke is fitted to Extra. All installation is set-up ... throttle etc.

Today replacement ASP 91 4 stroke arrived ....

Question ? Do I continue with 61 2 Stroke engine and keep 91 4 stroke in box for later ?

To fit 91 would mean re-making throttle system linkage ....

I think I will try the Extra with the 61 .... see what she flies like ... then make decision of change or not.

I think you are right. I feel comfortable with the 2 stroke as well.

91 can stay for another model !
